Civic Committee
THANK YOU to the 25 GCOG volunteers helped Summer of 2020
Our members weed, water, and deadhead at 7 AM and after 7 PM
It’s cooler then too!
Our members carry hundreds of pounds of water every week.
Did you know that water weighs eight pounds a gallon?
Window boxes need the most water. They have less soil, so it holds less moisture and it dries out more quickly.
Faucets and hoses are available at some local merchants.
GCOG members have contributed plants from their own gardens for the sidewalk beds and planters.
We use a variety of small shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
In May, GCOG spent $1,400 on plants to fill the 65 planters and 17 sidewalk beds.
We think it’s worth it!
We wanted the walk home from the train station to be a pleasant one, so we turned the island into a garden.
Casa Blanca lilies smell as lovely as they look.
Hardy hibiscus.
In fall, we will plant asters and spring bulbs.
Linnae, Marilyn, Sheila, Liz, Laurel, Betsy, Ingunn, and Monica meet weekly from May to September to weed in front of Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich point.
